Red Arrows lead at the summit of the FAZ Super League table has been cut from seven to five points after drawing 1-1 at home in Saturdays big Lusaka derby against 10th positioned Zanaco at Nkoloma Stadium.
The draw has left Arrows feeling a little pressure with four games left to play after defending champions and second positioned Zesco United won at home in Ndola.
Veteran striker James Chamanga put Arrows ahead in the 23rd minute to score his sixth goal of the season.
But Zanaco hit back through Moses Phiri in the 67th minute to see him also take his tally to 12 goals and go two behind Friday Samu who left Green Buffaloes in January to join PSL side Maritzburg United.
Arrows have 60 points after the draw but Zesco kept the pressure on them when they rallied to beat Buildcon 2-1 at home in their Ndola derby at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Gift Lukwesa put Buildcon ahead in the 12th minute but John Chingandu and Collins Sikombe responded with goals in the 30th and 41st minutes respectively to send Zesco to 55 points.
Buildcon are at number five on 42 points after 30 games played.
Zesco also continue to enjoy a three-point advantage ahead over third placed Green Eagles who beat former pacesetters Green Buffaloes 2-1 in the early kickoff at Nkoloma Stadium.
Susu Mukabanga put Eagles ahead in the 42nd minute and Hosea Silwimba added the second in the 58th minute.
Buffaloes consolation goal came in stoppage time through George Ngoma to see them drop from fifth to sixth on 41 points.
Meanwhile, fourth placed Nkana, who have 45 points, are in action on Sunday when they host 13th placed Prison Leopards in Kitwe.
At the other end of the table, Chambishi improved their survival chances after rising from 16th to12th when they beat bottom of the table Lusaka Dynamos 2-1.
All three goals came after the hour mark that saw Chambishi go two-up in a three-minute spell through Andy Boyeli in the 62nd minute and Mathews Simbeye in the 65th minute.
Visiting Dynamos scored their consolation through an Emmanuel Sakala free-kick in the 80th minute.
