9K A popular Zambian model and socialite, Lisa Mutambo, has died suddenly after reportedly falling unconscious at her home in Lusaka’s Kalundu area following a night out with friends. The shock death has sparked a wave of speculation online, with early social media claims alleging that Lisa had been beaten to death by her boyfriend. But police have moved to challenge those claims, saying no physical injuries were observed on her body as investigations continue into what happened during her final hours. Police said the incident was reported to Chelstone Police Station at around 9:30am on Thursday, with Lisa believed to have died between approximately 3:30am and 4:30am at Victoria Hospital. According to police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha, Lisa had spent the evening with two female friends at a hotel where she reportedly served as an ambassador. The three women later left at around 10:30pm and continued their night at another drinking establishment in Lusaka. The night took a devastating turn several hours later. Police said that between 2:30am and 3am, Lisa’s boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, arrived and picked up the three women. He reportedly dropped the two friends off in the Minestone/Casanova area before continuing with Lisa to the Kalundu residence where the couple were staying. It was after they arrived home that Lisa reportedly began vomiting before suddenly becoming unconscious. Her boyfriend is said to have contacted a friend, who assisted in taking her to Victoria Hospital. Tragically, Lisa was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police subsequently processed both the primary and secondary scenes as officers began investigating the circumstances surrounding her sudden death. Lisa’s body was initially taken to FSG Mortuary before being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to help establish what happened. Despite the disturbing rumours circulating online, police say no physical injuries have so far been observed on Lisa’s body. An inquiry file has been opened and investigations remain ongoing. The circumstances surrounding the model’s final hours therefore remain unanswered, with authorities now working to establish what caused her sudden death.
