Former Black Stars defender Samuel Kuffour believes Ghana have the psychological advantage over the Super Eagles ahead of Friday’s (today) first leg Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off.

Ghana and Nigeria renew their rivalry when they clash  at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, with the reverse fixture set for the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja next Tuesday.

The aggregate winners of the tie will earn one of five African tickets to the Qatar World Cup holding from November 21 to December 18.

According to the former Bayern Munich defender, the Eagles boast better players than Ghana but the history of the Baba Yara Stadium and the two teams will work in Ghana’s favour.

“I was playing that game, 2006, they beat us 1-0 at AFCON and from then, they never got any chance to beat us. We always win against them.

“Psychologically, we have the advantage. In this case, when you look on paper, they are much better than us player-to-player, but when you look into the details of Ghana-Nigeria, the history, we are ahead of them,” Kuffour told JoyNews.
