All of Gambia, Libya and Tanzania recorded draws in their first 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this week while Sudan saw out a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Niger in their initial Group F tie on Wednesday evening.

In a match where little separated Sudan and Niger in Juba, Abo Eisa’s 51st minute strike was enough for Falcons of Jediane to bag maximum points on home soil and in turn, take charge of Group F.

Elsewhere, Comoros and Gambia settled for a 1-1 draw in their respective Group A fixture that took place at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in Morocco.

Comoros star Youssouf M’Changama put his side ahead in the 37th minute, while Al Taawoun attacker Musa Barrow levelled the scoreline moments before the break.

In another stalemate played out this week, Tanzania and Ethiopia jotted down a 0-0 draw at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in their first Group F encounter. Neither side were able to produce any notable scoring opportunities throughout the 90 minutes and appeared to have shook hands at the idea of sharing the point count minutes before the final whistle was blown.

Results:

Wednesday, 4 September

Sudan 1-0 Niger

Comoros 1-1 Gambia

Libya 1-1 Rwanda

Tanzania 0-0 Ethiopia
