South African football heavyweights Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were both in action in the DStv Premiership.

Pirates extended their winless run to three matches across all competitions when they were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Richards Bay on Saturday night. The draw left Pirates and Richards, fifth and second respectively on the league table.

While Chiefs secured a 3-1 victory over Stellenbosch FC at the DHL Stadium on Sunday afternoon with Bonfils-Caleb Bimenymana grabbing a hat-trick after Nhlanhla Mgaga had handed Stellies the lead.

The win took Amakhosi to the fourth spot on the league standings – two points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns and level on points with third-placed SuperSport United who were in action on Friday.

SuperSport United claimed a 3-1 win over Sekhukhune United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium with Bradley Grobler, Thamsanqa Gabuza, and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe all scoring for the hosts, while Thamsanqa Masiya netted for Babina Noko.

Lastly, TS Galaxy were frustrated by goalkeeper Sanele Tshabalala, who was named Man of the Match, as they drew 0-0 with Swallows FC at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The stalemate left the Rockets placed 10th on the league table while Amaswaiswai remained 15th on the log as the two teams continue to struggle.
