During the second month of the SAG-AFTRA strike, former cast and crew members of “Parks And Recreation,” including Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott, and others, reunited to support the American actors’ union and the Writers Guild Of America (WGA), which has been on strike since May. They gathered on the picket line outside Amazon Studios in Los Angeles’ Culver City neighborhood.
Acclaimed actor Sam Elliott, who portrayed Offerman’s Eagleton counterpart Ron Dunn in three episodes of the popular political satire mockumentary sitcom, also joined the show of support. Surprising everyone, Pawnee’s celebrity miniature horse, Lil Sebastian, made an appearance, stealing the spotlight for the day. Pratt, known for his role as the goofy and dim-witted Andy Dwyer on “Parks and Recreation,” couldn’t attend due to prior commitments. However, he took to Instagram to share a series of photos featuring the group on the picket line.
‘The Parks gang went picketing today. I couldn’t be there, but I stand in solidarity with them. #SAGAFTRAstrong #SAGAFTRAstrike,’ the Hollywood leading man, 44, wrote in the caption. The cover photo displayed 11 members of the former cast, huddled together while holding signs and resolutely addressing the current issues. Additional pictures featured some of them standing arm-in-arm, with one focusing on the small horse, Lil Sebastian, who was a famous part of the show.
SAG-AFTRA members began striking on July 14 due to a labor dispute with AMPTP. The union’s concerns cover economic fairness, residuals, AI regulation, and adapting to industry shifts. Fox, 53, who played Joe Fantringham, reposted the group photo, captioning it “Pawnee is a union town.” Yeagley, as Jessica Wicks, shared humorous Instagram snaps of the old cast addressing the serious union situation.
The man behind the character of Jerry Gergich appeared to be overjoyed over meeting up with his former colleagues. ‘Such a great day. Got to hang with some of my Parks cast, crew, writers, producers and guest stars to support SAG/AFTRA and the WGA’s fight for a fair contract,’ O’Heir, 61, shared in his Instagram page. ‘We also brought along the cutest lil’ horse to ever walk a picket line.’
Parks showrunner Michael Schur, co-creator Greg Daniels, and writer Greg Levine walked the picket line, per Entertainment Weekly. Arrow actors Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Caity Lotz, and Katrina Law also reunited at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank. Since the mid-July strike, occurring eight years post-series and three years after a reunion episode, the Parks And Recreation team has posted updates on social media.
