Nkana’s 1-1 away draw against Green Buffaloes on Sunday suits them just fine, says assistant coach George Chilufya.

The Kitwe side rallied from one-down at halftime to salvage an away point against Buffaloes at Edwin Emboela Stadium in Lusaka.

Striker Royd Alufonso put Buffaloes ahead in the 18th minute and it took until the 72nd minute for Nkana to equalize through midfielder Jacob Ngulube.

“Very important point for us but I think we did not plan for a draw but we are OK with it,” Chilufya said.

“We took time to settle and conceded in the first 20 minutes but again what was important is how the boys reacted positively and we got a goal and it has ended 1-1.”

The result sees Nkana and Buffaloes top five statuses unchanged in fourth and fifth position on 41 and 39 points respectively with seven games to go.

But Nkana are fourteen points behind leaders Red Arrows who beat struggling Lusaka Dynamos 1-0 on Saturday to open an eight-point lead.

Zesco United stay second on 47 points despite their inactivity this weekend after seven players received Chipolopolo call-ups while another is away on AFCON 2023 qualifier duty with South Sudan.

Green Eagles are third and tied on 47 points with Zesco following a 0-0 away draw at mid-table side Kansanshi Dynamos on Saturday.
