The official match ball for the 2022 African Nations Championship was unveiled this week ahead of the opening game between hosts Algeria and Libya on Friday.

CHAN 2022 is set to run from January 13 to February 4 and sees 18 teams from all six CAF regions battle it out for continental glory for the first time.

Morocco are the current holders and will be looking to win the title for a record third time, although fellow two-time champions DR Congo are also in the mix.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), along with technical partners Umbro, announced the new match ball on Wednesday, named ‘Marhaba’ which means ‘Welcome’ in Arabic.

“With its design, Marhaba is inspired by the CHAN and Algerian colours,” CAF said in a statement on its official website.
