Al Ahly have sent another letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to complain about Al Hilal following their Champions League clash in Cairo on April 1.

The Red Eagles booked their place in the quarter-finals after beating the Blue Wave 3-0 at the Cairo International Stadium in the final round of the group stages.

Marcel Koller’s side secured second place in Group B on goal difference ahead of the Sudanese champions as both teams had finished on 10 points with a record of three wins, one draw and two defeats.

Their first encounter in Omdurman on February 18 was a heated affair after Al Hilal supporters assaulted the Al Ahly players before and after the match, which resulted in CAF taking action against the Sudan Premier League outfit.

The return leg in the Egyptian capital also courted controversy, with local reports claiming that visiting fans clashed with Koller’s players once more and the 10-time African champions confirmed they had contacted CAF to clarify the incidents that took place on matchday 6.

“Following the misinformation that was reported by some media outlets about the Al Ahly-Al Hilal game in the Champions League, a letter has been sent to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) clarifying all the facts,” Al Ahly said in a statement.
