Black-owned and operated Sugar Plum Scrubs is a self-care business that was launched by Eshe Simba two years ago to serve the needs of women who like to feel pampered while showing up as their authentic, natural selves. By incorporating locally grown lavender alongside Caribbean-inspired ingredients, Sugar Plum Scrubs invites you update your summer beauty and self-care routine by using special products to create the ultimate spa experience from home.

Simba started Sugar Plum Scrubs because she suffered from ingrown hairs and instead of buying a product to solve her ailment, she decided to create one. It all started in her Aunt’s home where she discovered a lavender plant growing in the garden that she now uses to make Sugar Plum Scrubs. After trying different methods of shaving and some treatments including laser hair removal and waxing, Simba finally tried exfoliation, which worked. However, it was while exfoliating her skin that she realized the potential for an all natural product, seeing that many other scrubs left her with a lack of understanding for all their ingredients. She then began to experiment with at-home remedies – creations of her own which she eventually shared with friends, family and eventually, the public.
Sugar Plum Scrubs are a natural, healthy substitute compared to many other body scrubs on the market that are often filled with harsh chemicals. It also combines the propertiies of multiple products into a single product by acting as an all-in-one exfoliator, anti-bacterial cleanser and moisturizer. Everything in Sugar Plum Scrubs is edible and one major ingredient included is lavender, known for its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. Simba mixes lavender with rosemary, peppermint and other natural herbs as she believes that you should never put anything on your skin that you cannot ingest.
“There is a need for products that are specifically formulated for Black women’s skin with natural ingredients you can find in your kitchen and without the artificial colours and perfumes,” says Simba who also reinforced that Sugar Plum Scrubs is all vegan and is committed to sustainability.

Sugar Plum Scrubs is formulated to keep Black skin moisturized especially during the winter because it keeps the skin from drying out. But besides the colder months, the product is bound to provide a silky and smooth glow for summer beauty. There are many other benefits of using the product.
Save time and cut your beauty routine in half.
Sugar Plum Scrubs body scrubs act as a cleanser, shaving cream,  exfoliator and moisturizer all in one. When used in the shower or bath, you are hydrating your skin and can better lock in moisture without feeling clammy, or oily! Customers report skin feeling moisturized for days after use.
Smell fresh with a natural fragrance that lasts all day long
Rather than using perfume, which can be overwhelming, opt for a soft and subtle scent that will last you throughout the day. Highly recommended is the Lemon Merengue body scrub if you like citrus and the Morning Dew body scrub if you prefer earthy tones. Both are great for those with fragrance sensitivities.
Get a full body spa treatment right at home
Relax & Wind down with different therapeutic aromas to choose from. Our customer favourites are the Refresh-mint and the Lavendula Tea. The Refresh-mint, made with peppermint and lavender is great for starting your day on the right note. Lavendula Tea made with lavender and tea tree is best just before crawling into bed at night as it makes for a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
Perfect as a soap and shaving cream alternative
Summer time can get hot and humid, leading us to shower / bathe more often, sometimes drying out our skin. Instead of reaching for the soap, use a body scrub. Not only do the essential oils have anti-bacterial properties, but they add moisture rather than stripping it away. Also, you can use the body scrubs to shave to exfoliate and shave your legs.
Embrace your skin’s natural, healthy glow
Use the Honey, Be Supple facial duo to enhance your natural beauty. If you are looking for a facial, but are conscious about your budget or concerned about health risks, this is a great option for you. The Honey, Be Supple Facial scrub exfoliates dry and dead skin with fine sugar granules and the Honey, Be Supple Facial Oil adds moisture to encourage healing. It also offers protection from harmful ultra violet rays and when it comes to summer beauty, protection from the sun – even for Black women is very important.
