The CDC updated its COVID-19 guidance for schools Friday, saying in-person learning is a priority in the fall and that vaccinated teachers and students may attend maskless.
This new guidance comes about two months after health officials announced kids ages 12 to 15 are able to receive the vaccine ahead of the 2021-2022 school year.
The agency said students are able to go without a mask unless they are riding on a bus or school officials decide otherwise, per Just the News.
Teachers and students who aren’t vaccinated should still continue to wear masks indoors, and the agency still recommends that students remain at least 3 feet apart in the classroom.
“When it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least 3 feet, such as when schools cannot fully reopen while maintaining these distances, it is especially important to layer multiple other prevention strategies, such as indoor masking,” the guidance suggests.
