We Are Africa Local Expands to a 1.5-Day Showcase for 2026

After a powerful debut in 2025, We Are Africa Local is set to return bigger and bolder for 2026 – growing into a dedicated 1.5-day event from 4–5 May 2026 at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium.

This expansion is a direct response to the phenomenal feedback from last year’s launch and months of conversations with our tribe. The enhanced format will give exhibitors even greater reach and access to Southern Africa’s most wildly influential trade professionals – creating more opportunities, deeper connections, and stronger results.

As Ryan Wallace, MD & Co-founder of We Are Africa, puts it:

“Last year was our opportunity to prove the concept and give everyone a taste of what to expect. WAA Local showed its value and is emerging as a highly specialised trade fair in its own right. We’ll be doubling down on our efforts in this exciting space!”

What’s New for 2026?

Here’s how WAA Local will level up next year:

  • Extended format: 1.5 days of trade activity, kicking off We Are Africa week
  • More appointments: 21 pre-scheduled meetings per exhibitor diary
  • Dedicated networking: 2 networking lunches with Southern Africa’s trade leaders
  • Pitchside party: A high-energy evening celebration at DHL Stadium
  • Local recognition: The launch of the WAA Local Awards, honouring the champions of our industry

With space for 250 local travel professionals, WAA Local 2026 will once again unite DMCs, agents, contracting managers, and product managers with the continent’s most exciting travel brands. It’s where the African travel tribe gathers to celebrate local spirit and push our industry forward with pride, purpose, and presence.

For discerning buyers, WAA Local 2026 is an immersive day and a half; you’ll engage in up to 21 curated one-to-one appointments with Africa’s most sought-after suppliers, alongside productive networking lunches and standout social moments designed to spark meaningful partnerships. Whether you’re a product manager, consultant, or agent, this is your opportunity to strengthen your portfolio with the very best in travel while being part of a community shaping the future of the industry.

What the Tribe Said in 2025

The success of our debut year speaks for itself:

  • “WAA Local was a complete success. It gave us the opportunity to meet with trade partners we often struggle to connect with throughout the year.” – Alex Lategan, Journey Beyond
  • “It was amazing, so wonderful to meet suppliers we wouldn’t normally have access to.” – Olivia Burton Barbour, Steadfast Africa
  • “Great initiative and really good to connect with the inbound sector.” – Walter Smith, Ker & Downey Botswana

Don’t miss the chance to be at the heart of Southern Africa’s travel trade gathering.
