Join me on an extraordinary photographic journey to the Okavango Delta in Botswana, where the landscapes magically morph into a seasonal wetland paradise. Witness the deeply diverse wonders of the Okavango Delta in pictures, forming a tapestry of habitats and wildlife…

1

Elephants in the Okavango Delta in Botswana

Splish, splash, I was taking a bath

As the sun rises, head out on an early morning game drive to become a spectator to the daily life and interactions of the wildlife. Amidst the tranquil silence, tune in to the symphony of nature – the rustle of antelopes, grunts of hippos, and playful splashes of elephants frolicking in the water.

In the afternoon, indulge in the breathtaking aerial vistas of the Okavango Delta, where you can spot the wildlife roaming below. We recommend taking a scenic flight to behold the grandeur of the largest inland delta on Earth.

Mokoro rides in Moremi Game Reserve

As daylight wanes, glide through the Okavango Delta’s waterways on a traditional mokoro ride. Keep a keen eye out for submerged wonders lurking beneath the surface, including the appearance of hippos and crocodiles in the shallows. You’ll also see wildlife coming to the banks to drink, meeting your eyes as you pass them. It’s my personal favourite activity in the Okavango Delta.

As night descends upon the Okavango Delta, raise your glass to an extraordinary adventure. Spend the evening gathered around the crackling fire under the star-studded sky, relishing in the camaraderie of fellow travellers while the nocturnal melodies of wildlife create a soothing backing track.

Dare to be led to captivating encounters with wildlife on a walking safari?

With the dawn of a new day, why not set out on foot for an exhilarating walking safari? Expert rangers will guide you as they share the complexities of animal tracking. This experience will allow you to feel the crunch of the wild grass beneath you, smell the vegetation around you, and appreciate even the smallest creatures and nuances of the bush.

The true allure of the Okavango Delta lies in its rich diversity of landscapes and the abundance of wildlife it harbours, offering magnificent sightings that vary with each season. Because there’s so much to see, every game drive is a new experience and game viewing never gets old.

The rich ecosystems also support a stunning variety of bird and fish species. Even if you don’t consider yourself a birder, you’ll appreciate the vibrant details of the surrounding flocks.

Take to the air or water for a magical ride and breathtaking views

Guided by the intricate choreography of nature, the Okavango Delta’s waterways meander with deep curves and intricate patterns, sculpted in part by the movements of hippos and other wildlife as they wade through the water. Even the big cats like lions brave the water to pounce on prey!

Nature walks

Nothing beats an African sunset, with a melodic chorus of crickets and frogs signalling the end of the day and the start of the night. This is also the “golden hour” to capture surreal-looking photographs.
