For years, the Ghana-Must-Go bag has been a staple in Nigerian households, known for its durability and practicality when carrying luggage.

But today, this iconic checkered bag has evolved beyond its traditional use—making waves in the fashion world.

Luxury fashion brands have embraced the design, incorporating the recognizable pattern into bold, stylish outfits. What was once a simple travel necessity is now a canvas for creative expression, turning heads on runways and redefining streetwear aesthetics.

One rising designer who is championing this transformation is Patience Odeh, popularly known as Ambrosia’s Distinction. At just 20 years old, the Baltimore-based designer is making a name for herself in the DMV fashion scene.

Patience’s love for fashion began at the tender age of seven when she first picked up a needle and thread. What started as a childhood passion quickly turned into a lifelong pursuit of creativity. After completing her freshman year at Towson University, she took a leap of faith—launching her own fashion brand, Ambrosia’s Co., in 2023.

With her innovative approach to design, Patience is not just following trends; she’s setting them. By reimagining the Ghana-Must-Go material, she blends nostalgia with modern style, proving that fashion is as much about storytelling as it is about aesthetics.

Her journey is a testament to the power of creativity and resilience—transforming an everyday item into a bold fashion statement. As designers like Patience continue to push boundaries, the Ghana-Must-Go bag is no longer just a travel essential; it’s a symbol of cultural reinventing.
