This week’s ‘WTFGO in Politics’ round up is ridiculous and as unusual as the weeks before. Welcome back to your go-to rundown of the most absurd, alarming, and straight-up unbelievable moments in American politics this week. From President Donald Trump using Usher’s song “Daddy’s Home” in official government promotional videos to real-world war threats, here’s what you might’ve missed while trying to live your life.

IRAN vs. U.S. HEATS UP

The U.S. and Iran stepped to the edge of war this week. After U.S. forces launched a surprise strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran clapped back with missile attacks on American bases in Qatar. President Trump then announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel—without disclosing how or why they agreed. Meanwhile, civilians across the Middle East are paying the price. According to USA Today, protests have erupted worldwide demanding peace and accountability.

“DADDY’S HOME” IS… UNHINGED

From the “you can’t make this up” files: the official White House website released a promo video titled “Daddy’s Home” to celebrate Trump’s return from the NATO summit. The video plays like a satire skit—slow-motion walk, dramatic zooms, and Trump waving like he just headlined Coachella. While his base ate it up, critics are calling it peak propaganda. Watch the full awkwardness at whitehouse.gov.

TRUMP MOBILE IS A REAL THING

Just when you thought branding couldn’t go further, Trump launched his own phone. Yes, the T1 by Trump Mobileis here—priced at $499 with a $47.45/month service plan. While it screams “Made in America,” reports show the phone is nearly identical to cheaper Chinese models. Oh, and the FCC had no clue it was coming. According to Reuters, even regulators were blindsided. Capitalism meets cult of personality, again.

TRAVEL BAN THREATENS GLOBAL HEALTH

In quieter chaos, Trump’s expanded travel ban now restricts entry from several African and Middle Eastern countries. But this isn’t just about visas—it’s threateningglobal health. Per NPR, researchers warn this ban could block scientists, doctors, and experts working on everything from infectious diseases to vaccine research. Translation: the next pandemic just got harder to stop.

Whether it’s American and Iran flirting with WWIII (again), Usher’s song being used in Trump’s political propaganda, or a launch of Trump Mobile this Fall, world news is starting to feel like we are all living in an alternate reality similar to the film The Truman Show.
Stay safe, stay woke, and stay wondering: WTFGO?
