Keeping the spirit of summer alive, Grammy-nominated group BTS are all set to release a new single, “Permission To Dance.” The track was co-written by English singer Ed Sheeran in collaboration with Steve Mac, Johnny McDaid and Jenna Andrews, who has previously worked with the South Korean pop titans on their singles “Dynamite” and “Butter.”

In a teaser clip released earlier today, the septet are seen bidding adieu to the pandemic, welcoming a new era. Rapper-producer, SUGA opens the video holding a newspaper dotted with headlines ‘2022, the beginning of a new era,’ ‘Bye. Let’s not meet ever again’, and ‘Purple balloons signal the end of COVID-19.’  He then proceeds to walk towards the rest of the group, prompting the arrival of an Eighties disco melody with a strong string-percussion ensemble.

The retro melody is then layered over a montage showing the members moving to the beats with rapper j-hope pointing towards a signpost which reads, ‘Seoul,’ ‘ARMY,’ ‘London,’ ‘San Fransico,’ ‘Moscow,’ Egypt,’ ‘Berlin,’ ‘Kenya’ and ‘Paris.’The teaser concludes with the members standing together dressed in cowboy-inspired denims, as V’s vocals echo, “We don’t need permission to dance.”

Earlier this Summer, BTS surprised fans with their second all-English single “Butter,” which has remained Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts for six weeks consecutively. Maintaining the momentum, the group is all set to release the “Butter” CD single on July 9 accompanied by “Permission To Dance,” which hits all major streaming platforms on the same day at 1 PM KST (10: 30 AM IST.)
