The proclamation ceremony, held at Atlanta City Hall, was a grand affair attended by city officials, fans, and fellow artists who came together to celebrate this significant achievement. During the event, Atlanta City Council members lauded Davido’s cultural influence and commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity through his music.

Councilwoman Maria Rodriguez, one of the driving forces behind the proclamation, expressed her admiration for Davido’s impact on Atlanta’s music culture, saying, “Davido’s music has the power to unite people from all walks of life. His dedication to his craft and his ability to bridge cultural gaps through music are truly remarkable.”

Davido’s journey to international stardom began when he moved to Atlanta to study at the prestigious Babcock University. During his time in the city, he honed his musical talents, collaborating with local artists and immersing himself in the rich musical tapestry of Atlanta. These experiences profoundly influenced his music, shaping his unique style that blends elements of Afrobeat, hip-hop, and R&B.

Accepting the honor, Davido expressed his gratitude to the city of Atlanta, saying, “Atlanta is a place where dreams can come true. I am humbled and honored to receive this recognition. This city has been instrumental in my career, and I am grateful for the love and support of the people of Atlanta.”
