Cameroonian football legend Rigobert Song has been unveiled the new head coach of the Central African Republic (CAR) national team.

The former Cameroon head coach inked a two-year contract on Monday in a press conference that was attended by CAR’s Minister of Sports.

The Central African Football Federation (FCF) officials were absent during the event as they are against Song’s appointment.

“Rigobert Song Bahanag signed, this March 3, 2025, his contract with the Minister of Sports as coach of the Fauves for two years, renewable,” a report on Soutien aux fauves 236 read.

“His salary is estimated to be FCFA 4,500,000. The federation Central African Football Club @fcf.officiel was not informed of this signing.”

CAR are scheduled to take on Madagacar and Mali later this month in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
