Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper revealed what really happened when Donald Trump’s team reached out about him being on her hit podcast.

Cooper, 30, spoke at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit on Wednesday in the Big Apple, as she responded to questions about having the president-elect and Vice President Kamala Harris on her show prior to the election.

Despite saying that she ‘didn’t want to technically get into politics,’ the podcaster admitted that she knew she had to speak up because ‘there was a larger conversation that was directly impacting my audience.’

When asked by editor Andrew Ross Sorkin if the political figures reached out to her, Cooper said they both did, but she avoided being involved in communications with Trump.

‘We had a zoom call with Trump’s team. I wasn’t on it. I was like, “Let me know how it goes”,’ Cooper said.

Cooper added that she is a ‘very competitive person’ that knew she had to delve into the political world even if she truly didn’t want to.

She then acknowledged how podcaster Joe Rogan had Trump on one of his episodes, adding that ‘he knows his audience.’

‘I know my audience, and it’s a bunch of women looking for someone to advocate for them every single day.

Alex Cooper, the host of the hit podcast Call Her Daddy, shared what happened when Trump’s team reached out to hers to appear on an episode during her interview at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit

Cooper said that there was a Zoom call with Trump's camp but she chose not to be a part of it, as she told her team 'Let me know how it goes'. (Pictured: Trump on November 4 in Pennsylvania)

‘And I understand that people are like, “Oh God, you’re going to focus on the whole time on abortion.” Yeah, I am, because it’s not about abortion. It’s about women’s rights to their bodies,’ Cooper said as the audience applauded her.

‘So, I thought why not have on someone that could potentially have a huge impact on our country? And so I did, and it was fun,’ she added, referring to the episode where Harris joined her back in October.

During the campaign trail, while the Democrat avoided the show’s typically sexual content, she spoke of her take on abortion rights and student debt during the seven minute sit down.

Trump has openly disagreed with Harris’ views on abortion, as he’s made it clear that he will make sure the decision will be determined state-by-state.

During the October interview, Harris said of her combined family with husband Doug Emhoff and his two adult children: ‘This is not the 1950s anymore. We have family by blood and family by love.’

Harris also reacted to J.D. Vance’s comments about ‘childless cat ladies’ running the country by saying: ‘I just think it’s mean.

Cooper was quickly ripped to shreds for her sit down with Harris as viewers honed in on the podcaster’s ‘softball’ questioning and lack of focus on two issues Harris is seemingly weak on – the war in Gaza and the federal government’s response to Hurricane Helene.

A number of viewers even vowed to stop subscribing to her podcast, which is one of the biggest in America.

After the show aired, Cooper rushed to release a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram explaining she ‘couldn’t hit every policy’ with Harris, and chose to focus the interview almost entirely on women’s issues.

‘I totally understand everyone has different political opinions, but I feel really good that the entire episode is about women.’

‘I did what I knew would apply to the Daddy Gang,’ she continued, referring to her loyal following. ‘And I talked about women.’

Following the controversial episode, many people, including fans of the hit podcast, tore into Cooper.

‘Unsubscribed and unfollowed,’ one person wrote in the comments.

‘I’m so disappointed, this feels like propaganda and trying to make her look ‘gen z’,’ added another. ‘You’re gonna look back on this one day and regret it when we are in a war because of her. SMH, truly smh. You just lost a lot of respect.’

Others noted that it seemed in bad taste given the Biden-Harris administration’s response to the devastation left by Hurricane Helene.

‘Wow shame on you! You sold your soul on this one while people need help you had this lady on a podcast,’ one fan wrote.

‘I hope everyone unfollows you and no one watches your crap podcast ever again,’ said another.

While many disagreed with how Cooper conducted the interview, others were thrilled that the 30-year-old spoke in favor of abortion rights.

‘Fascinating that people are shocked that a woman who has talked about abortion rights for years would interview a woman Vice President who is running for President about abortion rights?! It’s like being shocked that Charlotte Tilbury is doing someone’s makeup,’ a user said.

‘Imagine boycotting someone for having a presidential nominee on their show,’ wrote another. ‘You should be proud of your girl. You don’t have to like and agree with every guest.’

Cooper made it clear that her conversation with Harris wasn’t ‘one-sided’ and that she is open to sit down with Trump ‘to have a meaningful, in-depth conversation about women’s rights in this country.’

It was later revealed that Harris spent six figures to build out the set for her appearance on Call Her Daddy.

According to a report by The Washington Examiner, her campaign splurged on building out the set of the podcast for her small appearance.

The outlet also reported that it was filmed inside a hotel room in Washington DC, with crews building out the set to imitate Cooper’s actual set in Los Angeles.

In total, the Harris campaign spent $1.2 billion on the race while Trump’s campaign spent $750 million, a Financial Times analysis found.
