Pitso Mosimane could soon be inundated with offers after parting ways with Abha Club in the wake of their relegation from the Saudi Pro League.

The three-time CAF Champions League winner only spent five months with the Leaders of the South, having failed to keep them up following his appointment as head coach in January.

Mosimane went into the final game of the season needing a win to preserve the club’s top-flight status as they were just one point above the relegation zone in 15th place with a vastly inferior goal difference to Al-Tai (16th) and Al-Akhdoud (17th).

However, a 2-1 defeat to already relegated Al-Hazm on Monday condemned Mosimane’s side to the drop and the South African tactician has now vacated his post.

‘Jingles’ earned promotion with Al-Ahli last season, but his contract was not renewed and he joined league rivals Al-Wahda a couple of weeks later before announcing his departure in November.

Mosimane admitted he took a gamble by accepting the job at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium and confirmed he was now out of contract.

“It was difficult times for us and we played the match under pressure, and I am sad about the situation we are in, but this is football,” he told Saudi Arabian media after the match against Al-Hazm.

“We must accept everything, and even though we scored first, we were not able to win, and we got a penalty-kick and missed it.

“I took a risk and came to a team at the bottom of the league, and I know that it is a difficult task, but I had hope when we get out of the danger zone three times, and my contract with Abha expires today (Monday).”

Mosimane, who guided Mamelodi Sundowns to six DStv Premiership titles, has been linked with a return to South Africa at Kaizer Chiefs.
