Kamala Harris is realistic about the prospects that she and President Joe Biden will need to ‘earn’ the nomination and their reelection campaign for 2024.

It comes amid new polling that shows Biden’s approval has dropped to a new all-time-low of 40 percent and former President Donald Trump beating the incumbent by 2 percent.

The vice president flew to South Carolina on November 10 to file for her and Biden to appear on the state’s Democratic primary election ballot as the President continues to brush-off concerns about his dismal polling.

‘We’re going to have to earn our reelect, there’s no doubt about it,’ Harris told CNN after spending about an hour in South Carolina to officially file Biden for the Democratic presidential primary there.

Harris’ visit this month comes as Democrats moved to establish South Carolina as the first-in-the-nation primary election state – in a major snub to New Hampshire and Iowa, which historically are the first and second primary contest states.

It also comes after a New York Times poll taken late October through early November shows former President Donald Trump beating Biden in five of the six states battleground states key to winning the 2024 election.

The poll also found that 11 percent of Harris’s would-be supporters do not back Biden – specifically those younger than 30.

Meanwhile, a new NBC News poll released Sunday morning shows Biden’s approval has reached a new low.

Biden’s approval fell to 40 percent, the poll shows, with 57 percent disapproving of his job as president. It dropped just one point from 41 percent in September, which was tied with the previous all-time-low polling for the President.

The same poll shows Trump beating Biden in the 2024 general election – 46 percent to 44 percent.

Biden has dismissed these polls, claiming his bad showings are few and far between.

‘There are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, ten other polls, and every one we are winning – except the two we are tied,’ Biden said after some state-wide elections earlier in November. ‘The point is, the CNN and New York Times polls are the only ones you heard about. So, your money is not wasted.’

He assured that Democrats are winning because ‘the Biden-Harris agenda has taken hold.’

Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn (S.C.) helped boost Biden’s victory in the state during the 2020 presidential primary. He was specifically helpful in getting Biden support from the black community in South Carolina.

He plans to help again during this election cycle.

‘People were saying, ‘The VP is a drag on the ticket,’ Clyburn said after joining Harris for the filing on November 10. ‘Now they’re saying just the opposite.’

Harris told CNN when asked about how she envisions her role on the campaign trail: ‘To be honest, I’ve not compared this cycle with what previous vice presidents have done in a reelect.’

‘I have a great sense of duty and responsibility to do as much as I can, to be where the people are and to not only speak with them, but listen to them and let them know what we’ve accomplished,’ the vice president added.
