Forests in Uganda_ Uganda as a country full of nature in terms of forests, rivers lakes, mountains, wildlife, swamps and birds.To whisper with nature in Uganda, visit places like Bundongo forest, Mgahinga National Park, Maramagambo forest, mabira forest, Lake Bunyonyi.These forests not only enhance climate but they are a home to very many wild animals, butterflies,ants, insects,water, sources, some indigenous people,snakes to mention but a few.

These are some of the forests in uganda.

Mount Mgahinga forest National Park: It’s on the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo volcanoes national park. These countries share the Virunga Forest where the park is located. This is a home to not only the endangered mountain gorillas but also rare golden mokeys. purchase a gorilla permit through a reputable tour operator through the uganda tourism board portal and spend some time with these creatures, you will realize how the silver back can be 5 times bigger and heavier than a human being. The forest is natural, you can hear only voice of birds, monkeys, and gorillas climbing different trees.

Maramagambo forest: This forst is in the soth western parts of uganda, Bushenyi. It adjoins the Queen Elizabeth National Park to the north, bordered by two crater lakes named Lake Kyasanduka and Lake Nyamasingiri. Many chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys and Bates’s pygmy antelopes can be found here. The forest is famous for its rewarding nature walks and Hiking. The activities can last for half a day. Immerse yourself in nature by visiting this forest.

Bundongo Forest: This is found in the way to Murchison falls National Park. It has many attractions and the main activity here is chimpanzee Tracking. Do a nature walk in this forest and expect to encounter Chimpanzees, butterflies, birds, moths, trees. From Budongo, you may continue to Murchison falls National Park for other adventures.

Mabira Forest: The forest is near Kampala/ Entebbe, it’s a half day drive. It is located between Lugazi and Jinja. It is a home to many endangered species. Activities done here include, birding, nature walks, Zip lining and etc. On the nature walk through the forest, expect to see grey cheeked mangabey, bush babies, squirrels, antelopes, red tailed monkey and etc. The forest has natural trees and medicinal plants.

Lake Bunyonyi:It’s one of the deepest lakes in Africa, located in Kabale, lake Bunyonyi is a good place to relax and heal from the different pollutions. Activities here include boat cruises to different islands, nature walks, zip lining, birding, swimming and etc. The lake is surrounded by different levels of lodges, with good view of waters, spend a night here from the other parks and destinations, sleep in lodges like Bird nest, Acadia cottages, paradise eco hub, lake bunyonyi eco resort and etc.

Hiking Mountain Rwenzori: Rwenzori mountains are located in Kasese near the border of Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo and most of the mountain if forested and stone. The highest peak for this mountain is Margarita peak with 5,109 meters. Daily Hikes are organized to the mountains either to the Highest peak or other peaks, there are many trails to follow but the popular ones are the Central circuit owned Rwenzori mountaineering services and then the new one is owned by Rwenzori Trekking services.
