The TOP CHARITY Auction has redefined philanthropy in the luxury sector, earning the title of Europe’s Best Luxury Auction Event from the Luxury Lifestyle Awards. Set against the historic backdrop of King Jan III Sobieski’s Palace in Wilanów, Warsaw, the gala was a remarkable fusion of high art, business and social impact. Raising $11.5 million in just 90 minutes during its latest edition and nearly $21 million over three editions, the event exemplifies how luxury and philanthropy can seamlessly unite to drive lasting change.

A Platform for Art and Philanthropy

The auction showcased an extraordinary collection of works, including pieces by Magdalena Abakanowicz, Wojciech Fangor, and Igor Mitoraj. The standout sale of the evening, Torso alato (1985) by Igor Mitoraj, reached $1.7 million, underscoring the power of art in philanthropy. Organized by Polswiss Art Auction House with the support of EY Poland, the event seamlessly blended exclusivity with generosity.

Beyond fine art, the auction featured exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. From haute couture and private travel to personal encounters with global icons, the offerings attracted bids exceeding $200,000, reinforcing the appeal of experiences that merge luxury with a deeper purpose.

An Expanded Vision: Beyond the Auction

The TOP CHARITY Auction is more than just an annual event; it is a dynamic ecosystem fostering dialogue, education, and networking. Complementing the main gala, the ChangeMakers networking conference, scheduled for June 6, 2025, provides an exclusive forum for business leaders, philanthropists and cultural influencers to exchange ideas and explore new avenues for impactful giving.

Additionally, in collaboration with Sotheby’s Institute of Art, the Art Investment Masterclass offers a series of specialized courses designed for auction guests, providing insight into the evolving art market, investment strategies, and the growing significance of African art on the global stage.

The main charity-auction event will take place in Warsaw on June 7, 2025, continuing its tradition of excellence in uniting the luxury, art, and philanthropy sectors.

A Legacy of Cultural Exchange and African Art Recognition

At the heart of the auction is a mission that extends beyond fundraising—it is a cultural bridge fostering collaborations between Africa and Europe. Its founder, Omenaa Mensah, embodies this vision through her Polish-Ghanaian heritage, which connects European art traditions with the rich legacy of the Ashanti royal family.

A key initiative in this effort is the OmenaArt Foundation, which champions cultural and educational programs. One of its landmark projects, the newly built Kids Haven Sports and Art Complex in Ghana, will serve as a hub for international artistic exchange, providing opportunities for residencies, youth mentorship, and creative dialogue between African and European artists. Additional collaborations in Malta, Italy and Poland further reinforce this mission, offering platforms for artists to engage with global audiences.

African Art on the Global Stage

The TOP CHARITY Auction is not just a luxury philanthropy event—it is a driving force behind the international recognition of African art and artists. This impact is amplified by Omenaa Mensah’s role as the first Polish member of the Africa Acquisitions Committee (AAC) at Tate Modern, a prestigious initiative dedicated to acquiring and promoting modern and contemporary African art in the global art scene.

Beyond her involvement with Tate, Mensah actively supports emerging African artists through the Kuenyehia Trust for Contemporary Art Prize and the Yaa Asantewaa Prize. These awards provide essential funding, exhibition opportunities, and international exposure to outstanding artists from Ghana and across the African continent.

The Kuenyehia Trust for Contemporary Art Prize, a leading initiative supporting contemporary visual artists in Africa, grants not only financial support but also the chance for solo exhibitions and international recognition. The Yaa Asantewaa Prize, established by Ghana’s renowned 1957 Gallery, honors emerging Ghanaian artists, further raising awareness of African creativity on the global stage.

Shaping the Future of Luxury, Philanthropy and Art

The TOP CHARITY Auction has established itself as a pivotal event that brings together business leaders, art patrons and cultural influencers, united by a shared commitment to philanthropy and artistic excellence. Its recognition by the Luxury Lifestyle Awards strengthens its global reach, drawing high-profile collectors and sponsors eager to contribute to a mission that transcends wealth and exclusivity.

As the event continues to evolve, it remains a beacon of how luxury and social impact can intersect, proving that fine art is not just an investment but also a powerful tool for lasting change, cultural recognition, and global artistic collaboration. The auction’s role in promoting African art and nurturing young talent ensures that it is not just a platform for fundraising but a movement that reshapes the art world, bringing emerging artists into the global spotlight.
