Your senses will be in overdrive as you tick off the many memorable encounters that are around every corner on the Southern Africa Discovery. You will be awe-struck when you see and hear the cascade of water known as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’; be amazed experiencing some of the urban and natural highlights of the ‘Mother City’ and its surroundings; ending with the prospect of spotting the ‘Big Five’ on safari in the malaria free Pilanesberg National Park.

29 April 2024 – Johannesburg
Welcome to Johannesburg and the start of your Southern Africa Discovery!

On arrival, you will be welcomed to Africa with a Meet & Greet before heading to your nearby hotel for some time to relax. In the evening, meet with your Tour Escort and fellow travellers for a briefing and evening at leisure.
City Lodge OR Tambo Airport (B)

30 April 2024 – Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Transfer back to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls. On arrival, transfer to your lodge for day at leisure. In the late afternoon, enjoy a Zambezi River Sunset Cruise to experience a magical African sunset and spot some of the resident wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner at leisure (own expense).

Optional Activity: Scenic Flight Over The Falls – Get an aerial perspective of the majestic falls with a thrilling helicopter or micro-light flight. (Bookings MUST be made before your departure to guarantee a place and are not included in the package cost.
A’Zambezi River Lodge (B)

1 May 2024 – Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Join a guided walking Tour of the Falls, introducing you to the history and culture of the magnificent Victoria Falls. Explore the rainforest of this World Heritage Site, which is also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. In the evening enjoy an Africa treat with dinner at The Boma restaurant.

2 May 2024 – Cape Town
Today you fly to the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town. On arrival, transfer to your hotel, located near the lively V&A Waterfront. This modern entertainment mecca provides plenty to keep you busy.

3 May 2024 – Cape Town City Discovery
This morning, go on a half-day Table Mountain and City tour. Travel by cable car to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting). Afternoon is at leisure to explore the V&A Waterfront.

4 May 2024 – Cape Peninsula Tour
Embark on a journey around the Cape Peninsula taking in all the highlights and breathtaking beauty of this world-renowned region. Travel through historic suburbs, charming villages and amazing viewpoints on your way to Cape Point. Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Boulders beah for penguins, Camps Bay and Clifton Beach are just some of the highlights. Stop at the Cape of Good Hope where it is said that the mighty Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet before returning to Cape Town.

5 May 2024 – Winelands Tour
Enjoy a full day Winelands tour at 3 famous wine areas of the Cape. The region is renowned for having some of the oldest and most well-known wineries in South Africa, producing not only some of the best wines in the country but the world. Later in the afternoon, you will return to Cape Town, where you can experience the city at night.

6-8 May 2024 – Pilanesberg National Park
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Johannesburg, from where you will be transferred to the ancient volcanic depression that is Pilanesberg Game Reserve. After checking in to your lodge, join your first game drive in the Pilanesberg, where an abundance of wildlife sightings awaits. The opportunity to spot the ‘Big Five’ (Elephant, lion, rhinoceros, buffalo and leopard) is a drawcard, as well as many other animal species. There’s no better introduction to ‘safari life’!

During your stay, participate in morning and afternoon game-viewing activities in the malaria-free Pilanesberg Game Reserve. It is always easier searching for large game, but the well-trained eyes and ears of your guide will also point out the smaller wildlife, amazing birdlife and explain the combined importance of this biodiverse environment. Even though they have a wealth of information on everything wildlife, they will also share their knowledge about the various flora of the reserve.
