People from all over the world are traveling to Tanzania to visit the world renowned Serengeti National Park. If you plan to do the same, you’ve landed on the right article. We have summarized exactly what to expect when you travel to Serengeti National Park. This will help you prepare for your trip.

You will witness the great migration:

The reason this park is so popular is because you can actually see the Great wildebeest migration, a wonder of the world.

The best time to witness the great migration would be, well, any time of the year actually! This is because the event is cyclic and goes on throughout the year.  However, witnessing them cross the Mara River is a sight to remember. Therefore the optimum time to see this in particular would be between the months of July and October.

Visiting the Olduvai Gorge

Located between Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge is where 2 miollion year –old fossils were found. If you love history and you’re a fossil lover like Ross in Friends (Just Kidding!), then visit the museum here to indulge in ancient history.

Hot Air Balloon safari:

Now this is an experience that will remain in your hearts forever. Because it will take your breath away! Although hot air balloon safaris can be costly, it would be worth saving up for it, because it only adds that extra magic to your already amazing safari. It is really, the cherry on the cake! You will get to see beautiful views of the park, and maybe pop some champagne too! Something special indeed.

Discover the Maasai:

The Maasai tribe live in both Tanzania and Kenya. You can stop by a maasai village nearby and get up-close with these very interesting and intriguing people. The maasai people have a unique culture in many ways. Discover their lifestyle, their traditions, their diet and their very fascinating ethnic wear.

You may spot the Big Five:

If you didn’t know already, the Big Five consists of lion, rhino, leopard, elephant and Cape buffalo.  The highlight of visiting Serengeti National Park would be to see wildlife in their natural habitat. It is a priceless feeling to be in the middle of so many wonders.

Lion-On-Kopje

Needless to say, Serengeti offers so much – including bird life and insect life, too. So if you are an enthusiast, you are in for the time of your life.
