Have you wanted to go mountain climbing but cannot fight your climbing fears? Guess what, it’s not as hard as it sounds! The famed Mount Kilimanjaro stands in the beautiful lands of Tanzania, East Africa. Very well known as the highest peak in Africa, Kilimanjaro is not too far from the Kenyan border. Thousands of tourists fly in every year to get to Uhuru Peak.

Climbing Kilimanjaro has been on your bucket list for a very long time. You finally get the perfect opportunity to chase your dreams, the time has come. Everything is prearranged, you plan for weeks and months for this exciting adventure. But as the day draws closer, you start getting cold feet. Why do many of us get so anxious?

No doubt, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a huge deal. But here are some reasons people back out in the last minute:

It is not cheap!

With park fees and tax, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has certainly become more expensive in the recent years. With Viva Africa Tours, we try to keep the prices as affordable as possible, without compromising on quality of service. Our guides are experienced for very many years, we use high quality equipment and we also provide good, healthy food. Safety is our top priority.

Doubting your ability

Getting to the highest peak in Africa is an exciting but scary thought for many. You may wonder if you have the capacity and physical capability to persevere and make it to Uhuru peak. Am I fit enough? Is my body ready for this challenge? These are the many questions popping in our minds. But here is what we have to say: Kilimanjaro can be climbed by anyone with a basic and reasonable level of fitness. Of course, you must train for at least three months! It will only make the climb easier for you.

Acute Mountain Sickness

Altitude sickness affects everyone in different ways. Some may acclimatize quickly, others may not. It is a very unpredictable matter; therefore, we make our best attempts to reduce the implications and lower the chances of AMS. This can be controlled in various ways. Try to make sure you are in good shape and fit for the climb, choose the longer route up, bring the right equipment, stay hydrated, eat well and follow instructions.

Mild symptoms may not be something to worry about. But if symptoms get worse, it is definitely time to descend.

They say ‘where there is a will there is a way’. Manage your time, plan well and start preparing NOW.  Drop the excuses and climb Kilimanjaro with Viva Africa Tours. You can do it!
