Tunis/Tunisia — Tourism and Handicrafts Minister Habib Ammar and a delegation from the French parliament discussed at a meeting Sunday in Tunis ways to boost tourism between Tunisia and France.

During the meeting, which was attended by tourism professionals, Ammar laid emphasis on the COVID-19 health measures implemented by the Tunisian government to curb the spread of the coronavius so as to ensure the success of the summer season in the country, reads a statement from the Tourism Ministry.

The measures included the launch of the vaccination campaign destined to tourism professionals as well as the implementation of health protocols ensuring the safety of tourists.

The minister reiterated the importance of the French market in Tunisia with 900,000 touristsreceived in 2019, pointing out that with the resumption of the tourist activity in 2022, the sector could achieve a goal of one million French tourists in the upcoming years.

During the meeting, a presentation was made on the ministry’s future strategy focusing on improving existing services as well as promoting cultural and alternative tourism.

French MPs expressed their county’s willingness to support Tunisia during the coranavirus pandemic as well as promoting the Tunisian destination in France.
