Greensprings wins U16 basketball tournament

Greensprings School, Lekki Campus, excelled at the U16 Island Schools 3×3 Basketball Tournament held last weekend.

The event, which featured nine schools from across Lagos Island, was a showcase of skill, sportsmanship, and youthful talent.

A statement by Greensprings said the tournament hosted by the school was designed to promote grassroots basketball development, engage youth in sports, and identify future basketball stars, delivered on its promise.

Greensprings School emerged victorious, clinching gold medals in both the male and female categories.

It read, “The games were intense, filled with outstanding displays of teamwork, determination, and athleticism. Greensprings School’s male and female teams dominated their opponents, earning well-deserved first-place finishes.”

In addition to the school’s team victories, Onyekachi Agbim and Tobechukwu Idoko shone individually, being named the Most Valuable Players in the male and female categories, respectively. Their exceptional performances throughout the tournament underscored the high level of talent and dedication nurtured at Greensprings School.

Participants, coaches, and supporters praised the tournament for its organisation, competitiveness, and role in fostering camaraderie among young athletes. The event highlighted the school’s commitment to providing a platform for talent discovery and development.

Greensprings School has consistently demonstrated its leadership in sports education, complementing its academic excellence with a robust extracurricular program. With world-class facilities and dedicated coaching, the school ensures its students excel both on and off the court.

Speaking about the school’s achievements, the statement added, “We are proud of our basketball teams for their outstanding performance and for upholding the values of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Events like this showcase the potential of our youth and reaffirm our dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals prepared for global challenges.”
