Social isolation in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic does not mean you cannot drive around and admire nature. You can still have a good time in isolation, provided you are alone and you have a car. Also, avoid crowded cities like Dar-es-salaam and Zanzibar.
This also means you must follow all international guidelines for protection against Covid – 19. I.e. Wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds, use hand sanitizer often and keep a safe distance from everyone. It is VITAL that you stay cautious and avoid crowded areas. But if you need a breather, Tanzania has plenty of open space to just unwind and appreciate nature.

Hot Springs:
This is a popular spot in the Kilimanjaro region. Chemka Hot springs is a natural wonder, with sparkling clear water in which you can swim or just dip your feet for a nice fish pedicure. Yes, there are plenty of tiny little fish in here ready to tickle your feet! It is recommended that you visit in the early morning hours when there is hardly anyone around. The drive to the hot springs, also called maji moto, starting from Moshi town, is a lot of fun. You get to see local villages and how the locals live here.
Coffee plantations:
Enjoy a scenic drive to the beautiful village called Materuni. This area is famous for its coffee plantations and the local Chaga people. Perfect way to calm the mind and get a break from all the media anxiety.
Bike Tour:
Discover small towns like Moshi in the Kilimanjaro region, just by cycling around. All you need to do is simply hire a bike and ride! Explore the heart of Kilimanjaro in this small but delightful town. A preferred route for many is the ride from Moshi town to TPC Golf club, where you get to see vast lands of sugarcane plantation extending through a 40km road.
Arusha National Park:
Good news is that you can still go for a small safari at Arusha National Park. You can be away from large crowds and also get to admire wildlife and nature. What better way to isolate than amidst wildlife? The unique ecosystem here is home to giraffes, zebras, gazelles, leopards and much more.
Remember to avoid going to these places in crowds. Go alone or as a couple. Otherwise plan for a later time. Most tourist spots are open for visitors. Take all necessary precaution.
