Madagascar will have work to do to keep their Africa Cup of Nations qualification hopes alive when they face Tunisia at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa in Group A on Thursday evening.

    Kick-off is at 18:00 CAT (SA, GMT+2)

The teams are playing the fixture in Tshwane due to the fact Madagascar is regarded as the “home team” and they do not have a venue approved by CAF for the clash.

Nicknamed “Barea”, the Southern Eastern African country’s hopes of qualifying for the tournament to be hosted in Morocco next year are hanging on by a thread.

Their chances of featuring in the continental showpiece could end this week if they lose this clash and Comoros beat Gambia in the other match of the group.

Still looking for their first win in their qualifying campaign, head coach Romuald Rakotondrabe is under pressure. The team has been winless across all competitions for five games in a row.

They have also not featured in the AFCON main draw since 2018/19.

Tunisia are currently at the top of the standings and will be looking to stay up top by collecting three points, before going up against The Gambia on Monday, 18 November.
