eing an art that would continue to last through the ages, fashion often makes its way into the itinerary of the busiest individuals. This is especially true if this person loves a stylish twist to their everyday style. And because the inspiration to create promising looks is a style prerequisite, it’s natural to look to others when we choose to boost creativity. In this regard, one thing about Nigerian style stars is that they are the gifts that keep giving.

Last week, these celebs spun the wheel of fashion in ways that resonate with them. For sure, they gave credence to the fact that in style, individuality trumps all. The looks spotted on Nigerian style stars were trendy, conservative, and definitely worth incorporating into your fashion choices this week. As we slowly wrap up the month of March, here is enough inspiration for you to slay in true Naija fashion.
Check out the fab looks seen on Nigerian style stars last week…
#1. Animal prints: Osas Ighodaro in Erica Moore

Although animal prints are ubiquitous, these classics have stood the test of time. Decade after decade, an animal print dress still has the same head-turning effect. Nollywood star Osas Ighodaro looked the part in a form-fitting Erica Moore dress. This look works for a day-to-night outfit, making it a good option for a semi-formal meet-up with acquaintances regardless of the time of the day.
#2. Classic white and black: Kate Henshaw in Zibah

We’ve gone beyond the days of the chic white-on-black relegated for church, interviews, or formal events. Fashion trends have taken us to a point where classic white on black can grace the streets, rock parties, and elevate runways in a suave way. Versatility is one remarkable characteristic of the popular combo.
The beautiful Kate Henshaw turned heads in a white button-down shirt with a black maxi pinafore last week. Because Kate plays the fashion game well, she paired it with a black Maison Valentino hat, which added an edge to the outstanding look. Now you have the inspo for the next time you decide to step up your white-on-black game.
#3. Ankara: Nancy Isime in Afrikayla

There isn’t any fashion-forward Nigerian without an Ankara outfit in their wardrobe. With its slew of stylish designs, it wouldn’t be apt to call Ankara; “the diamond of African fashion.” TV host Nancy Isime is one of the Nigerian style stars that constantly makes a case for the fabric. Last week she wore a multi-colored Ankara dress by Afrikayla to a Babcock University Ted talk. This refined number featured a beautiful Peter Pan collar that breathed an oomph into the rendering. This look works for weekend events like a wedding.

#4. Blazers and minis: Somkele Idhalama in Andrea Iyamah

Have you ever considered wearing a blazer to a non-formal party? When the blazer has the right details and is styled right, it works for any occasion. TV personality Somkele Idhalama posed for the gram in a classic white wrap blazer with an exaggerated belt tied around the waistline cascading towards the ankle. The star merged this sleek blazer with a tiered multi-colored pleated mini skirt and Stuart Weitzman strappy sandal heels.
Blazers have a way of making you look refined and elegant while mini skirts are magical for a party. This combination is a testament that you can fashionably rock the business world, enjoy a social life, and incorporate both into an outfit. Your next soiree outfit idea is served.
#5. Tulle maxis: Michelle Dede

If you want a regal and edgy glam look for the next time you attend a red-carpet event, opt for a black tulle maxi gown. Tulle gowns create a graceful, ethereal effect and the black color ensures it doesn’t come off looking princessesque. This look also makes its mark for a birthday get-up. Michelle Dede is proof that a solid pitch-black maxi dress with a corset and sheer detailing works perfectly.
#6. A pink affair: Veekee James in Niovô

No color is considered more feminine than pink. Call it a cliché but Barbie has spoken. While some of us aren’t big on the hue, incorporating shades of pink into your outfit still looks fab. Nonetheless, Nigerian fashion designer, Veekee James took an all-pink look and made it a polished affair. The midi bodycon number with feathers around the sleeve, matching pumps, and a smart updo hairstyle elevated this look to IT girl status.

#7. A mono-sleeve dress: Tolu Bally in Chinelo Bally

The lines are continuously blurring for gender-themed colors. Now, a true queen can rock any hue and own it. This blue alluring hand-beaded dress seen on designer Tolu Bally is my argument. The way it matches her skin tone screams perfection. Bayern blue is a great choice if you aren’t particularly pleased with plain or royal blue. A mono-sleeve number with tulles is a banger when completed with bangs and big sunglasses.
