Nike and Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand, Skims, have announced a partnership to launch a new line of women’s activewear. This venture comes as the heritage brand aims to bring Nike back to its roots. Read more about the exciting collaboration inside.

The upcoming collection between Nike and Skims is set to debut in the United States this Spring, featuring a range of training apparel, footwear, and accessories tailored specifically for women. A global rollout is planned for 2026, expanding the availability of these products to a wider audience. This strategic move aligns with Nike’s ongoing efforts to enhance its offerings for female consumers, who constituted approximately 40 percent of the company’s customer base in 2023.

According to Reuters, Nike’s new CEO, Elliott Hill, is attempting to reroute the brand back to its roots. In December, the company said it was expecting third-quarter revenue to drop to low double digits after the sportswear seller’s quarterly results beat market estimates.

In a statement to USA Today, President of Consumer, Product and Brand at Nike, Inc., Heidi O’Neill, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration.

“We’re energized by the opportunity to build a new brand and shake things up for the next generation of athletes with NikeSKIMS.”

Kim Kardashian, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Skims, highlighted the synergy between the two companies, noting, “Nike and Skims share a deep commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and pushing boundaries.” She emphasized that the partnership aims to deliver meticulously designed products that sculpt and perform for every body, with every detail carefully considered.

Nike’s newest employee:

Naturally, the announcement has not been without controversy. Shortly after the partnership was unveiled, Kanye West, Kardashian’s ex-husband, took to social media to share how Nike inspired a recent sneaker design.

In a post on Instagram, he remarked, “THIS NEW NIKE DESIGN REALLY MOVED US / REALLY INSPIRED US AT YEEZY WE APPRECIATE YOU GUYS WORK TO THE TEAM TEAM BEHIND THESE THANK FOR MAKING SOMETHING NEW AND SPECIAL, LOVE YE.”

Some fans believe that he was accusing Nike of copying his designs. Given the timing of his comments, others interpreted this as an attempt to overshadow Kardashian’s business announcement.

Despite the external distractions, the focus remains on the promising collaboration between Nike and Skims. The NikeSKIMS collection is designed to “enhance natural curves, move seamlessly with the body, and provide both support and style, empowering women to feel confident and strong during their workouts.” By combining Nike’s world-class sports technology with Skims’ expertise in fit and style, this partnership aims to “redefine women’s activewear and inspire more women to engage in sports and movement.”

As the launch approaches, consumers can anticipate a range of innovative products that embody the strengths of both brands, setting a new standard in the activewear industry.

Congrats!
