Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) will once again host a mountain clean-up on 17 November 2021 as part of the internationally-recognised Take a Hike Day.

Take a Hike Day was created to remind people about the abundance of natural beauty around us, and also to encourage us to take responsibility for caring for our natural heritage.

So, locals and visitors are invited to spend the day on the slopes of Africa’s leading tourist attraction enjoying the abundant and breathtaking views of the Mother City below while collecting rubble left behind by less considerate visitors.

“Our mountain is a New7Wonder of nature and as custodians we are dedicated to ensure that we protect the environment limiting any damage to flora and fauna.”, says Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC.

The mountain clean-up will take place from 07:00 until 15:00 and will start at Platteklip Gorge hiking trail towards the top of Table Mountain. The first 300 hikers to arrive on the day will receive a snack pack which includes a 10% discount coupon from Cape Union Mart who have committed to take part in this years’ clean-up.

The first 300 hikers down the mountain will also be treated to a R10 coffee voucher from Vida e Caffè but all those who join in on the clean-up will be issued a free cableway ticket down. Hikers are encouraged to start their hikes as early as possible not only to avoid the mid-day sun but also to catch the last ride down which will depart at 17:00, sharp.
