Sabinyo Silverback Lodge in Rwanda is uniquely positioned to offer guests an amazing Rwanda gorilla Safari, very close to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters, the starting point for all experiences. Sabinyo Silverback Lodge is one of the luxury safari lodges located around the mighty Virungas.

We invite you to book your stay at Sabinyo Silverback lodge during your visit to Rwanda, which comprises six cottages, two suites, and one family cottage. All are stone buildings with Rwandese terracotta tile roofs and feature large sitting areas, fireplaces, stylish en-suite bathrooms, and a sheltered veranda.  Three large fireplaces provide warmth while two patio areas afford wonderful and dramatic views of the Virunga Volcanoes and the surrounding countryside.

Enjoy the most thrilling and authentic safari experiences in the company of the best staff at the lodge, committed to ensuring that your stay is extremely memorable while enjoying some of the best stunning scenery.

Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is Rwanda’s first ever community-owned lodge. The lodge was built and is operated by Governors’ Camp Collection, but the ownership rests with a Community Trust, SACOLA (Sabyinyo Community Livelihood Association) which uses rentals and community fees from the lodge to drive socio-economic and conservation initiatives in the communities adjacent to the Volcanoes National Park.

Authentic safari activities that you can undertake while staying at Sabinyo Silverback Lodge.

Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla Trekking in the Volcanoes National Park offers visitors the unique opportunity of discovering the 10 families of gorillas that live within the national park. Visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee before the trek starts and will be separated into groups of 8 depending on their physical abilities. Each group is guided by a guide and two scouts who are well trained in emergency situations. The amount of time set aside per trek is different depending on where the gorilla family is situated. Some trips may take as little as half an hour and some take the better part of the day.

Golden Monkey Trekking in Rwanda

Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda offers Golden monkeys trekking. This unique experience allows guests in groups of up to eight to look for and discover golden monkeys within their natural habitat.

The monkeys are incredibly active and enjoy showing off to tourists and researchers that they encounter daily. The monkeys can be found closer to the base of the volcano and enjoy eating the bamboo vegetation in the area.

Iby ‘Iwacu Cultural Village

Offers an adventurous stay in a traditional rural, Rwandan village that has existed for centuries living with and next to mountain gorillas in Parc National des Volcanos.  Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village gives you a rare chance to meet local people, in their environment, with a taste of our culture and traditions. The community you visit will genuinely welcome you as a special guest while they proudly present to you aspects of their traditions and beliefs. This will truly be an experience of a lifetime as you homestay with the community and become part of their family.

Book your entire stay at Sabinyo Silverback Lodge for a truly rich safari experience in Rwanda. Why not explore the other parts of Rwanda including Nyungwe Forest National Park and Akagera National Park for a wonderful safari like no other in Africa that combines more primates and wildlife experiences.
