Chipolopolo loses to The Rest select team

Chipolopolo All Stars lost 1-0 to The Rest Select side in friendly game played on Wednesday afternoon at Nkana Stadium In Kitwe.

The game marked new Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic’s first get-together warmup with his home-based players since the Croats appointment in January.

Asanovic as expected line-up a relatively strong team with five

Zesco United players in the starting XI.

Zesco defender efender Shemny Mayembe didnt disappointed at right back but had to be substituted in the 35th minute with an injury and was replaced by clubmate Simon Silwimba.

Kafue Celtic striker Albert Kangwanda had a modest run and his two chances both came via free kicks in the 39th and 44th minutes that were kept out by Zesco second choice goalkeeper Gregory Sanjase.

But it was The Rest who had the best opportunity to take a half time lead but striker Enock Sakala’s closer range header was parried by Charles Kalumba.

The deadlock was broken in the 61st minute through Indeni defender Moses Soko who headed a Rogers Lukonde cross.

Asanovic’s side were put on the backfoot for remainder of the match but were denied an equaliser in stoppage time when Derrick Bulaya’s header was kept out by Lawrence Mulenga.

Meanwhile, Asanovic has another opportunity to see his call ups in action in the a final leg to play on March 19 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
