Tunis, Tunisia-Excitement is mounting as the Confederation of African Football Champions League gears up for its final showdown this Saturday.

The high-stakes match will feature a clash between Egypt’s Al Ahly, an eleven-time winner, and Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis, who have claimed the title four times.

The game is set to take place in Tunis, providing Esperance de Tunis the advantage of playing before a supportive home crowd.

Al Ahly enters the match as the favorite, having maintained an impressive unbeaten streak over 12 games in their journey to the finals.

Their track record and experience in reaching this stage of the competition make them strong contenders to secure a record-extending 12th championship title.

However, goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy emphasized the unique challenge each final presents, regardless of the team’s previous successes.

“The fans make a huge difference of course, but at the end of the day we like reaching this stage and playing in front of fans in Tunis or any other place in Africa. The team that succeeds is the team that prepares well and is well-focused,” El Shenawy remarked.

On the other side, Esperance de Tunis is back in the spotlight for the first time since their back-to-back Champions League triumphs in 2019.

Their return to the finals has been marked by diligent preparation in terms of physical and mental conditioning, as well as tactical and strategic planning. Head coach Miguel Cardoso expressed confidence and respect ahead of the match.

“It was easy to prepare for it as the motivation is at the highest level. We are going into this confrontation with a big ambition to win, and at the same time with respect for the opponent,” Cardoso stated.

As both teams finalize their preparations, fans across Africa and the world are eagerly anticipating what promises to be a thrilling encounter.

The match will kick off at 21h Central Africa Time in Tunis this Saturday, setting the stage for another memorable chapter in the rich history of the CAF Champions League.
