The Maasai Mara is renowned worldwide for its game viewing, and it is no wonder people flock here. But outside of this famous park, Kenya has so much to offer. With the UK government taking Kenya off the red list and the Kenyans subsequently adding UK nationals to their self-isolation exemption list, we can all start dreaming and more importantly, experiencing incredible safaris once again.
Here we take a quick look at four must-visit lodges outside the Maasai Mara.
Asilia Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
Home to the last two Northern white rhino, Ol Pejeta combines an extremely educational stay with some great game viewing. View the last two of their kind in a special area that receives armed security twenty-four hours per day, or head out into the conservancy to find a whole host of wildlife.

Borana Lodge
Situated in the Lewa-Borana conservancy, the game viewing here is only bested by the Mara. A rhino stronghold, as well as other members of the big five offer fantastic game viewing opportunities. The Laikipia region however is best known for its array of activities including horse riding and camel trekking.

Sarara Camp
In the Samburu region, Sarara is not on a typical safari circuit. The effort it takes to reach the area though is very worth it. Home to Reteti elephant sanctuary as well as an array of diverse wildlife, time spent here is certainly an unforgettable experience. Whether it is the main camp, their tree-house or the newly built Reteti House, Sarara offers a perfect place to soothe the soul.

Elewana Tortilis Camp
With Kilimanjaro as its backdrop and the world’s biggest elephants Amboseli is a photographer’s dream. Tortilis Camp run by Elewana sits inside its own conservancy but also has the freedom of entering the National Park and exploring other areas in search of Kenya’s mighty tuskers.
