Nigerian footballer Chimzulam Collins Nwoburuoke has ended his trial spell with South Africa’s Orlando Pirates and is set to join newly promoted Betway Premiership side Durban City FC in KwaZulu-Natal.

The 22-year-old central defender, who previously trained with the Soweto club, is finalising terms with Durban City after returning to the side where he initially trialled in August.

“Chimzulam Collins Nwoburuoke has stopped training with Orlando Pirates. He is on his way to join Durban City,”

FARPost journalist Tshepo Rabothe confirmed. “At the moment, it’s just small details that need ironing, and the deal will go over the line. He’s a good player who is definitely going to add value to Durban City.”

Nwoburuoke is expected to provide depth for Durban City’s defence, covering for the team’s central pair of Siphamandla Ncanana and Liam de Kock. His move ends speculation about a possible contract with Orlando Pirates, who currently have six central defenders in their squad, including Nigeria’s Olisa Ndah.

The Buccaneers are turning their focus to continental duty, as they face Lesotho’s Lilio in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Saturday, September 20, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

For Nwoburuoke, the switch to Durban City represents his first professional contract in South Africa and a potential gateway to broader opportunities, with the Nigerian expected to officially sign once contractual details are completed.
